The 90th Birthday Anniversary Academician V.I. Skurikhin (1926–2014)
Vladimir Ilyich Skurikhin was born on April 17, 1926 in Vyatka (Russia). In 1947, with honors He graduated from the Ivanovo Energy Institute, qualifying as an electrical engineer for specialty “electrical equipment of industrial enterprises”.

The most complete talent of V.I. Skurikhin as a scientist and organizer of science revealed in Kiev in Computing Center of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (since 1962. From now until the end of his life, all his scientific activities was connected with the Cybernetic Center of the Ukrainian SSR Academy of Sciences (now the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine)
in which he held the posts of academic secretary, head of department, deputy Rector of the Institute of Cybernetics. V.M. In 1970 V.I. Skurikhin defended his doctoral thesis, and in 1972 was elected a member correspondent of the Ukrainian SSR. Since 1978, V.I. Skurikhin – member of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR, since 1991 – Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. In 1990 he was elected an academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.
Skurikhin is a well-known in our country and abroad scientist in various areas of systems engineering and systems theory. The scope of his research interests is great and covers the scope of both theoretical research in the field of the dynamics of production systems, the integration of information technology data processing, management principles in targeted and purposeful systems, and the scope of applied work in the field of creation and implementation of various automated systems in the national economy and defense industry level and destination.
The fundamental results of the scientist include the principle of maximum system effect put forward by him, which should be achieved in complex (integrated) automated control systems.
Skurikhin made a significant contribution to the development of the theory of automatic control: he was inspired by the idea of controlling multiply-connected static and linear dynamic objects according to a model that was included in the contour of the system rather than direct feedback.

V.I. Skurikhin was a member of the editorial board of the international scientific journal “Managing systems and machines ”(USiM) since its foundation in 1972. From 1982 to 1998, it was the main Factor, and from 1999 until the end of his life – Deputy Editor-in-Chief of this publication.
The contribution of V.I. Skurikhin in the development of science and technological progress is highly appreciated. Academician awarded many orders and medals, awarded the honorary title of Honored Scientist Of Ukraine. V.I. Skurikhin – the winner of the State Prizes of the USSR and the Ukrainian SSR, as well as some premiums. The whole creative life of V.I. Skurikhina was filled with fruitful scientific activities and is devoted to new large-scale plans. Ideas for creating and researching targeted and purposeful systems, which he put forward in the last years of his life, continue his students.
